Piazza Signorelli is the cultural square of the historic centre — small, asymmetric, framed by the 13th-century Palazzo Casali (home of the Etruscan museum) on one side and the 18th-century Teatro Signorelli on the other. The piazza is named for Luca Signorelli, the Renaissance painter born in Cortona around 1450.
The Saturday morning market spreads through this square and the neighbouring streets. The cafe terrace at the corner closest to the museum is a useful place to sit and watch the town go about its day.
