Greve in Chianti is wine country first. The triangular piazza at the town's centre is lined with wine shops and enotecas, and the estates of the Chianti Classico zone are within easy driving distance. Beyond wine, the medieval village of Montefioralle perches above the town, and the Castle of Verrazzano — birthplace of the explorer who gave his name to New York's harbour bridge — is just a few kilometres away. Excellent walking and cycling connects the hill villages throughout the area.
