Things to Do

Lucignano is small enough to walk entirely in an afternoon, but the walk itself is the main attraction — the concentric elliptical layout of the streets is unique in Tuscany and probably in all of Italy. The main monuments are all within a few steps of each other at the top of the hill: the Palazzo Comunale (with its museum housing the famous Golden Tree reliquary), San Francesco, and the Collegiata. Leave time to simply wander the two main streets — Via Matteotti on the sun-facing side, Via Roma in the shade.
