The waymarked trails of the upper Senio valley fan out from the village in all directions. The CAI (Italian Alpine Club) network connects Palazzuolo to Marradi, to the ridge of the Apennine watershed, and on the Romagna side, down toward Faenza.
The classic short walk is the loop to Misileo and back through chestnut woods — about two hours, with one steep section. For something longer, the climb to Monte Castelluccio (about 1,100 m) is a half-day round trip with sweeping ridge views over both Tuscany and Romagna. Bring a printed CAI map; mobile reception in the valleys is unreliable.
