Trattoria degli Umbri

Right on Piazza del Comune, with tables out under the arcade facing the Temple of Minerva — one of the few places where eating with a tourist view does not mean eating a tourist meal. Solid Umbrian food at moderate prices, with grilled meats, truffle pasta, and the local pigeon all on the menu.

Service can be brisk in high season but the food is reliable. The setting is worth a small premium; ask for an outside table when you book.
