The town of Cortina is small and almost entirely walkable. The Corso Italia and the main cluster of hotels, restaurants, and shops are within ten minutes of each other on foot. In winter, walking between the town centre and the ski lifts is easy for most areas.
Ski lifts: In winter, the various ski sectors are accessed by different lift bases. The Tofana sector is reached from the Socrepes area (a short walk or shuttle west of centre). The Faloria cable car departs from the town centre itself. The Cinque Torri and Lagazuoi sectors require a drive or the ski bus to Falzarego Pass. A free shuttle bus (ski bus) connects the main lift stations during the ski season.
Local buses: Dolomitibus runs local routes around the valley, useful for reaching outlying trailheads in summer. Timetables are available at the bus station on Via Marconi.
Cycling and e-bikes: In summer, cycling is an excellent way to explore the valley floor. E-bike rental is available from several shops near the Corso Italia; the Pista Ciclabile dell'Ampezzo (Ampezzo cycle path) follows the old railway bed north and south of town.
Car: If you have a car, many of the best viewpoints and trailheads (Falzarego Pass, Tre Cime di Lavaredo) are only accessible by driving. Parking in the town centre is limited and expensive; most hotels have their own parking.
Taxis: Available at the main stand on Largo delle Poste, or bookable through hotels.
