Sorapiss Lake is one of the Dolomites' great colour tricks: a pale turquoise basin tucked under the cliffs of the Sorapiss group east of Cortina. The standard approach from Passo Tre Croci is a proper mountain walk rather than a roadside viewpoint, which keeps the arrival dramatic.
The route is popular and includes exposed sections, so start early, wear real footwear, and avoid treating it as a casual lake stroll. Swimming is not allowed, and the fragile shore deserves restraint; the best experience is to walk in, sit quietly, and let the colour do its work.
