Padua sits on major rail and road routes, making it one of the easiest cities in the Veneto to reach.
By train — Padua is on both the Venice-Milan and Venice-Rome lines. Fast trains from Venice Santa Lucia take about 25 minutes; from Milan around two hours. The station is a short walk north of the historic centre.
By air — The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo (VCE), about 40 km east. Direct buses run to Padua roughly every half hour, taking around 50 minutes. Verona's Valerio Catullo airport is another option for flights from within Europe.
By car — The A4 motorway (Venice-Milan) passes just north of the city, and the A13 connects south toward Bologna. Driving into the centre is restricted in places; park outside the ZTL zone and walk in.
