A legendary old-fashioned bacaro directly across the canal from the San Trovaso gondola boatyard — one of the most photogenic settings in Venice. Time Out calls it the definitive cicchetti stop: order a mixed platter of crostini spreads (baccalà, mushroom, anchovy, shrimp) with a glass of house wine and eat standing on the canal-side fondamenta.
Arrive at 12:00 or 18:00 when the cicchetti are freshest. The wine selection, poured from unlabelled bottles into small glasses, is local and cheap and good.
