Gjakova is about 70 km southwest of Pristina and 30 km south of Peja (Peć). There is no railway. Buses run regularly from Pristina and Peja; the journey from Pristina takes around 1.5 hours. Taxis from Peja or shared minibuses (furgons) are the common local options.
Pristina International Airport Adem Jashari is the main gateway for flights from Western Europe and Istanbul. From the airport, take a bus or taxi into Pristina and then a bus to Gjakova. A direct taxi from the airport to Gjakova is also possible and takes about 70–80 minutes.
