Ventspils is a port town and the menus reflect it — fresh and smoked Baltic fish (especially the local cold-smoked herring and sprats), pork and potato classics from the Latvian standard repertoire, and a handful of newer places offering modern Baltic cooking. The harbour and the streets just back from the castle have the densest concentration of restaurants.
