Nida Lighthouse

29-metre lighthouse on Urbas Hill above the village

The Nida lighthouse stands on Urbas Hill — the highest forested dune behind the village — and has been lighting the Curonian coast since 1874. The original German-built tower was destroyed in 1944; the present 29-metre concrete structure replaced it in 1953.

The light is still active. The hill itself is a quick walk from the village and gives broad views over the spit, the lagoon, and the Baltic. Combined with the Parnidis Dune it makes for a satisfying half-day on foot.
