Nida's appeal is split between the village itself — Thomas Mann's old summer house, a small ethnographic museum, the painted weathervane collection — and the surrounding landscape. The Parnidis Dune at the village edge is unmissable. Beyond Nida, the spit unrolls north toward Juodkrantė with its Hill of Witches and the bizarre cormorant and heron colony in the pines.
A bicycle is the best way to see the spit. The paved cycle path runs the length of the Lithuanian side, from Nida all the way back to Smiltynė and the ferry to Klaipėda.
