Coffee shops and small bars are scattered through the pedestrian centre, concentrated around Laisvės Square and the streets feeding into it. Lithuanian coffee culture has improved steadily over the past decade and good espresso is now available without much searching. The bars are quiet and local rather than boisterous; a couple of places have added craft beers from Lithuanian microbreweries to their taps. The pace is unhurried throughout.
