Upytė Ethnographic Museum

The Upytė Ethnographic Museum sits a short drive west of the city and offers a good introduction to the flat-land farming culture of northern Lithuania. The open-air section has traditional Aukštaitijan farmstead buildings relocated and reconstructed on site; inside, the collections cover folk costumes, agricultural tools, domestic objects, and the material culture of the region across several centuries. It is not a large museum but it is well maintained and the setting — quiet fields, timber buildings — captures something of what the surrounding countryside once looked like. Worth an hour if you have a car.
