Trakai's signature dish is kibinai — crescent-shaped pastries brought by the Karaim community from Crimea in the 14th century, stuffed with minced mutton (or sometimes beef or vegetables) and baked until golden. They are sold at essentially every restaurant in town. Kybynlar, the Karaim restaurant on Karaimu Street, is the place to eat them in their most authentic form, accompanied by kvas (a fermented grain drink) or Lithuanian beer.
