A Sliema institution since the 1980s, Peppino's occupies a prime spot on Tower Road and has managed to stay relevant by doing the basics reliably well. The menu focuses on Mediterranean fish and pasta: grilled seabream, spaghetti alle vongole, risotto with local shellfish. The wine list is solid and the terrace seating gives a good view of the Tower Road parade.
This is not the most adventurous cooking in Malta, but the consistency is reassuring and it works well for a long leisurely lunch. The lunch set menu is good value.
