Soroca is small enough to cover entirely on foot. The fortress, the central square, and the riverbank are all within easy walking distance. Reaching Ţigănia (Gypsy Hill) requires a 20-minute uphill walk from the fortress; the ascent is steep in places but the views at the top justify every step.
Taxis are cheap and widely available for the climb to the Candle of Gratitude monument, which is a further stretch beyond the Roma quarter. Agree the fare before you set off — most drivers will quote a reasonable flat rate for the round trip to the hill, waiting included.
There is no formal bus network serving the town's attractions. Bicycles are not commonly rented, but the riverside road running north from the fortress is pleasant and flat.
