Piaţa Centrală (Central Market)

The central market is the heart of Soroca's food culture and the cheapest and most authentic place to eat in town. Vendors sell fresh produce, pickled vegetables, local honey, sunflower oil, and homemade wine. Small hot-food stalls on the market's edge serve plăcinte (fried pastries filled with cheese or potato), sausages, and grilled corn in season. Arrive before noon for the best selection. The market also tells you a great deal about the local economy — prices are low even by Moldovan standards, and the variety of homegrown produce is impressive for a small town.
