Getting There

Cetinje sits in the mountains above the Bay of Kotor, with road connections to both the coast and the capital Podgorica.

From Budva: The most scenic approach is from Budva (35km), taking the old road that climbs through Lovćen National Park with extraordinary switchback views. The drive takes about 45 minutes. Buses run several times daily between Budva and Cetinje.

From Podgorica: Cetinje is 40km from the capital and connected by a direct, fast road through the Zeta plain. The journey takes about 35–40 minutes by bus or car. Buses run frequently.

From Kotor: The road from Kotor climbs dramatically via the Serpentine — 25 hairpin bends ascending from sea level to the plateau — before continuing to Cetinje. The journey is about 35km and takes 40–50 minutes. The Serpentine road is one of the most famous drives in Montenegro.

There is no railway connection to Cetinje; the nearest train station is in Podgorica.
