Getting There

Podgorica Airport (TGD, also signed as Golubovci Airport) is 12km south of the city centre, about 15–20 minutes by taxi. It handles year-round international flights including connections to London, Frankfurt, Vienna, Istanbul, and other European cities, mostly on Air Montenegro and budget carriers. A taxi from the airport costs around 12–15 EUR.

The main bus station and train station sit adjacent to each other in the western part of the city centre. Buses connect Podgorica to all major Montenegrin towns — Kotor (about 1.5 hours), Budva (1.5 hours), Bar (45 minutes) — and to Belgrade, Sarajevo, and other regional capitals. The train line south to Bar on the Adriatic coast passes through dramatic mountain scenery and is worth taking for its own sake; the line north to Belgrade via the famous Morača canyon is one of the great mountain railway journeys in Europe, though the journey is long (7–11 hours to Belgrade).
