The Grote Kerk (Great Church) is Almelo's most prominent landmark, its tower visible from much of the town centre. A Reformed Protestant church, it has stood here since the medieval period and was substantially rebuilt over the centuries. The square in front is where Almelo's street life concentrates — a cluster of bars and cafes line the perimeter, making it the natural place to end a walk through the city.
