By train and bus. There is no railway station in Bloemendaal village itself; the nearest stops are Overveen (one stop west of Haarlem on the Zandvoort line) and Bloemendaal–aan-de-Bos (the small station on the Heemstede side, less useful). From Overveen, bus 81 runs every half hour to Bloemendaal aan Zee in summer; in winter the service is less frequent.
By bike. A bike is the easiest way to reach the beach. The signed cycle route from Haarlem station to Bloemendaal aan Zee runs through the dunes — flat at the start, with one decent climb over the main dune ridge — and takes about 40 minutes at an easy pace. OV-fiets bikes are available from Overveen and Haarlem stations.
By car. Paid parking only at Bloemendaal aan Zee, and full to capacity on hot summer weekends. The park-and-ride at Haarlem station with a bus or bike onward is much easier on busy days.
