Bolsward is one of those compact Frisian market towns where the sights are all within an easy half-hour walk of each other: a Renaissance city hall, the Gothic Martinikerk with its Hagerbeer organ, the ruined Broerekerk, and two restored windmills on the outskirts. It is a half-day stop on a tour of the Eleven Cities or a quiet base for cycling around the wider Súdwest-Fryslân.
