Breda is small and flat, which makes walking and cycling the obvious ways to get around. The old centre is compact enough to cover on foot in an afternoon.
By bike. This is the Netherlands, so bikes are king. Breda has dedicated cycling lanes throughout the city. Rent a bike at the Central Station or the city bus station. Free bike parking is widely available.
By bus. Two bus stations serve the city -- one opposite the train station, the other at its far end. Local and intercity buses run throughout the day.
By car. Car rental is available in the centre, but you will not need one unless you are heading out of town. Parking charges apply in designated zones. Traffic moves slowly in the centre, where cyclists and pedestrians have priority.
Tip. If you arrive by train, skip the taxi. A shared train-taxi from the station is much cheaper, and most of the town is within walking distance anyway.
