Museum Slager is a small, intimate museum dedicated to the work of the Slager family — three generations of painters, all born in Den Bosch, all working in and around the city from the mid-19th century through the 20th. Tom Slager, the most celebrated of the three, was known for his portraits and figure paintings with a distinctly Brabant sensibility.
The museum occupies the family's former house and studio, and has the feel of a place still inhabited. The collection includes portraits, landscapes, and genre scenes that document the look and life of the city across a century. It's a quiet, personal contrast to the larger museums nearby, and worth a visit if you're interested in Dutch figurative painting.
