Getting Around

Ede town itself is compact enough to walk, but the main attractions are scattered across a wide area and a car or bicycle makes things much easier.

By bicycle — Ede sits at the edge of an extensive network of numbered cycling routes (knooppunten) that cover the entire Veluwe. From the town centre you can ride directly into the Hoge Veluwe National Park, where 1,800 free white bicycles are available inside the gates — so you can cycle to the park entrance and switch to the park's bikes. Bike rental is available in Ede and at the train stations.

By bus — Bus 108 runs from Ede-Wageningen station to Otterlo at the park's main gate; from Otterlo, bus 106 continues into the park to the Kröller-Müller Museum. Services run roughly every hour and are slower than cycling.

By car — A car is practical for reaching the Airborne Monument on the Ginkelseheide, Hoekelum Castle in Bennekom, or Kernhem Mansion, and for day trips to Arnhem or Nijmegen. Parking at the Hoge Veluwe entrances is paid; arrive early at weekends in summer.
