The most architecturally significant building in the Hoge Veluwe, this hunting lodge was designed by Hendrik Petrus Berlage — the architect of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange — for Anton and Helene Kröller-Müller between 1914 and 1920. The plan is based on the story of Saint Hubert, the patron of hunters, who converted to Christianity after seeing a stag with a glowing crucifix between its antlers: the building's floor plan traces the shape of a stag's head and antlers, the tower representing the cross. The interiors are intact and extraordinary. Access is by guided tour only; tours run from the Kröller-Müller Museum and are included in the park entrance fee.
