A story
The stadium is named after Fanny Blankers-Koen, the Dutch sprinter who won four gold medals at the 1948 London Olympics at the age of 30 — well past what was then considered prime competitive age for a woman. She became known as the "Flying Housewife" in the press of the era, a label she always found slightly ridiculous.
