Hengelo is compact enough to cover on foot or by bicycle. The city centre, Twentse Welle museum, and the Stork complex are all within easy walking distance of the station. For the FBK Games stadium, a short bus or taxi ride is needed.
Bikes are available for rent near the station. The Twente cycling network (knooppunten) makes it simple to explore the surrounding countryside without maps or extensive planning — just follow the numbered junction signs.
