Things to Do

Maastricht rewards slow exploration. The city's historic centre is compact enough to cover on foot, but there is real depth here: Roman foundations, medieval churches, two magnificent basilicas, a world-class modern art museum, and an extraordinary network of underground caves quarried over two millennia. Cross the Saint Servaas bridge and you move between two very different parts of the city — the lively Wyck district on the east bank, with its galleries and design shops, and the ancient heart of Maastricht on the west.
