Getting There

Røst is 100 kilometres west of Bodø and well above the Arctic Circle. Getting here is part of the experience — the island is genuinely remote.

By Air

Røst Airport has daily flights operated by Widerøe from Bodø. The flight takes about 20 minutes and uses a small propeller aircraft. Booking in advance is strongly recommended as the flights are popular with locals and seats are limited.

By Ferry

The Hurtigruten coastal ferry calls at Røst on its way up and down the Norwegian coast, but does not stop for long. More useful is the local express ferry that runs from Bodø via Værøy and Moskenes to Røst. The journey from Bodø takes about four hours. Ferries run most days but schedules change seasonally — check with Torghatten Nord for current timetables.
