Romsdalen Gondola

Cable car from the centre of Åndalsnes to a 700-metre summit

The Romsdalen Gondola lifts you in five minutes from the centre of Åndalsnes to a station near the top of Nesaksla at 708 metres. The ride passes over forest and granite slabs with the fjord opening up below. There is a restaurant at the top — Eggen — with a wall of glass overlooking the valley.

From the upper station a short walk takes you to the Rampestreken viewpoint, and longer trails continue along the ridge to summits behind. In winter the gondola runs for ski touring and freeriding; in summer it operates for walkers and as the start of the return loop from the Romsdalseggen hike. Check timetables in advance — it does not run year-round and shoulder-season hours can be short.
