The treasury at Jasna Góra holds six centuries of gifts from pilgrims and patrons, making it one of the richest ecclesiastical collections in Poland. The most striking pieces are the votive crowns and robes donated for the Black Madonna icon over the centuries, each reflecting the craftsmanship of its era. John Paul II's white papal cassock and the vestments he wore during his visits to Częstochowa have a prominent place.
The armoury next door takes a more martial turn. Polish military commanders traditionally donated captured standards, weapons, and armour here after victories, and the collection includes Turkish banners taken at the Battle of Vienna in 1683, swords, firearms, and the field equipment of various Polish military campaigns. Together, the two collections give a detailed portrait of Poland's self-image across the centuries: a nation defined by religious devotion and military resistance, usually against heavy odds.
