Brovarnia

Gdansk's hotel and brewpub with a working copper brewery in the restaurant

Brovarnia occupies a converted granary on the Raduna Canal in the Old Town and has a working brewery visible behind glass in the restaurant. The house beers — an unfiltered wheat, a dark amber, and a seasonal — are brewed on-site and are better than most tourist-trap brewpubs manage. The food is a step up from standard Polish fare: game dishes, duck, Baltic fish, and good pierogi. Prices are mid-range.

The setting is the draw as much as the food: brick vaults, copper tanks, and a terrace on the canal in summer. Book ahead for dinner, especially on weekends in July and August.
