Oberża Pod Czerwonym Wieprzem

Communist-themed restaurant in Praga serving 'Proletariat's Cutlet' in ideologically correct surroundings

The Inn Under the Red Pig is Warsaw's most theatrical restaurant — a communist-era theme canteen in the Praga district where the menu lists dishes as "Proletariat's Cutlet" and "Worker's Soup," served by staff in period uniforms. The decor is a mass of propaganda posters, Soviet memorabilia, and portraits of party leaders. Lenin allegedly dined here during a visit to Warsaw before 1917, which may or may not be true but adds to the atmosphere.

The food is traditional Polish: bigos, żurek, roast meats, and vodka in varieties. It's theatrical rather than subtle, but the quality is reasonable and the experience is distinctive. Good for dinner if you're spending an evening in Praga.
