Gubałówka (1,120 m) sits directly above Zakopane and is the easiest high viewpoint from the town — reached in five minutes by the funicular railway from the bottom of Krupówki Street. The view from the top takes in the entire Zakopane valley with the main Tatra ridge behind it, and on clear days extends south into Slovakia.
The funicular, built in 1938 and rebuilt in 2001, runs continuously during daylight hours from spring through autumn. At the top, a promenade stretches along the ridge with cafes, food stalls selling oscypek (grilled sheep's cheese), and vendors of Góral craft items. For a quieter experience, walk the path west along the ridge to Butorowy Wierch — the crowds thin out quickly once you are away from the station.
