Faro International Airport (FAO) is a major hub for budget airlines — Ryanair, easyJet, and TAP all serve it heavily from UK and European cities. The airport is 3 km from the city centre; a taxi takes about 10 minutes. There are also bus and train connections from Lisbon (around 3.5 hours by train). If you're coming from Spain, the train from Seville via Huelva works, though it takes most of the day.
