Setúbal makes a good base for the southern side of the Lisbon region. The villages of Azeitão, with their wine cellars and tile factories, are 15 minutes away. The fishing town of Sesimbra is on the far side of the Arrábida, half an hour by road. Across the river, the long Atlantic beaches of Comporta and the rice fields of the Alentejo coast start an hour south.
