Farol de Regufe

The Farol de Regufe is a small lighthouse standing on a rocky point at the northern end of the beach that runs between Vila do Conde and Póvoa de Varzim. It marks a sandbar at the mouth of a minor coastal channel and has guided fishing boats along this stretch of the Atlantic coast since its construction in the early 20th century.

The lighthouse is not open to visitors, but the walk north along the beach from Vila do Conde passes it in about 45 minutes — a pleasant stretch of Atlantic coastline with the sea to one side and the dune grass to the other. The lighthouse makes a natural turnaround point, with the option of continuing into Póvoa de Varzim for a coffee before returning or taking the metro back.
