Vila do Conde's principal sights are architectural: the Monastery of Santa Clara, the 18th-century aqueduct, the Igreja Matriz, and the Fort at the river mouth. The lace museum is the most distinctive attraction in the region and worth a visit even if you have no particular interest in craft. The beach is long, backed by a broad esplanade, and clean. Between the historical monuments and the seafront, you have a comfortable full day's activity.
