Vila do Conde is a compact town and the historic centre, the beach, and the main sights are all walkable from each other. The centre around Praça da República and Rua 5 de Outubro is about 15 minutes' walk from the beach at Avenida do Brasil.
Getting to and from Porto is straightforward: the Metro do Porto Line B (Póvoa de Varzim line) connects Vila do Conde to the city centre in about 45 minutes, and trains on the Linha do Minho also run from the station. For the surrounding towns and beaches, local buses connect the main coastal communities.
