On Plonge ("we dive") is a Constanța classic — a no-frills fish restaurant in the harbour area where the daily catch comes off the boats and onto the grill within a few hours. The menu is short, scribbled on a board, and reads roughly: whatever was caught this morning, plus a salad and a glass of Tămâioasă Românească.
The atmosphere is brisk and the dining room is anything but elegant, but the fish is excellent and the bill at the end is half what you would pay for the same thing in a tourist restaurant up in the old town. A taxi from Piața Ovidiu takes ten minutes; do not try to walk — the route runs through the working port.
