Ploiești is an industrial city rather than a conventional tourist destination, but it has a handful of genuinely interesting museums and a city centre that rewards a few hours on foot. For most travellers the city functions as a transit point for the Prahova Valley and the Bucegi Mountains to the north, and there are worse places to spend an evening or a morning before heading into the hills.
