Chita is on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Trains in both directions stop here: westbound toward Irkutsk and Moscow, eastbound toward Khabarovsk and Vladivostok. Journey time to Irkutsk is roughly 12 hours; to Vladivostok, about 40 hours. Check current timetables, as Trans-Siberian schedules change seasonally.
Chita Airport (CHT) is served by Aeroflot and S7 from Moscow (Domodedovo), and by regional carriers connecting to cities across Siberia and the Russian Far East. Flight time from Moscow is about 7 hours. The airport is 15 km from the city centre; taxis are the practical option.
Chita is also the starting point for the Zabaykalsk highway, which crosses the Mongolian border. Overland travel into Mongolia is possible with the right visa, but the border area requires careful planning.
