Taltsy is the open-air museum that makes Siberian architecture tangible. Wooden churches, farmhouses, watchtowers, and domestic buildings have been moved here from villages around the Angara region, creating a walk-through collection of carved timber, practical design, and rural life.
The museum sits between Irkutsk and Listvyanka, so it is easy to combine with a Lake Baikal day trip. It is at its best when you take time with the details: log joints, painted shutters, stove rooms, and the way thick wood made both beauty and insulation in a hard climate.
