Far East Regional Museum

The Far East Regional Museum is one of Khabarovsk's strongest cultural stops, housed in a handsome red-brick building from 1894. Its collections cover the Russian Far East through natural history, archaeology, ethnography, and regional history.

The museum is especially useful before travelling deeper into the Amur region, since it gives context for the landscape, Indigenous cultures, border history, and Russian settlement. Allow enough time to move through the main sections rather than treating it as a quick rainy-day fallback.
