Things to Do

Khabarovsk's main pleasures are its riverside setting, its surprisingly strong museums, and the long pedestrian boulevard along Ulitsa Muravyova-Amurskogo. The Amur Cliff Promenade offers views over the river towards China; on a clear day the landscape seems to go on forever. The Khabarovsk Regional Museum is one of the best regional history museums in the Russian Far East. The Military Museum of the Far East covers the region's history from the Cossack conquest to the Cold War.

The central park along the riverbank and the restored streets of the historic centre make for good walking. In summer the city fills with outdoor cafes; in winter the frozen Amur attracts ice fishermen and the views are spectacular on clear days.
