Sibirskiy Khmel (Siberian Hops)

Craft beer bar with local and regional taps in a relaxed basement setting

Sibirskiy Khmel is part of the wave of craft beer bars that arrived in Russian cities in the 2010s. It has a rotating selection of taps covering Novosibirsk and regional Siberian breweries alongside more familiar Russian craft names. The range is better than you might expect: pale ales, stouts, and wheat beers made by small producers who have taken the format seriously.

The setting is a low-ceilinged basement — warm in winter, which is most of the time — with communal tables and bar seating. Food is the standard beer-bar fare: sausages, pickles, fried things. The crowd is youngish and mixed, with a core of regulars who come for the new taps. A decent option for an evening if you want something more characterful than a hotel bar.
