The Pskov Picture Gallery occupies a historic mansion near the city centre and holds a modest but worthwhile collection of Russian painting, with a focus on works associated with Pskov and the northwest. The permanent collection includes 18th and 19th-century canvases, Soviet-era realist painting, and a small section of contemporary regional art.
It is a smaller, quieter alternative to the main Pskov State Museum, and rarely crowded. The building itself is an example of 18th-century provincial classicism — well-proportioned, with original stucco details in several rooms.
